WonderSlim products include protein smoothies, protein bars, and other protein snacks—including wafers, pretzels, popcorn, and chips.

Today, let’s focus on WonderSlim Meal Replacement Protein bars.

To determine if WonderSlim bars deliver on their claims, we’ll take a close look at their nutritional information, pros and cons, and their taste and texture.

Overview: WonderSlim Meal Replacement Protein Bars

WonderSlim Meal Bar with lean protein to lose weight

With 15 grams of protein, WonderSlim bars promise to help alleviate cravings, curb hunger, burn body fat, and increase energy.

The bars have a small amount of dietary fiber—5 grams per serving. Fiber content keeps dieters feeling fuller for longer, helps with digestion and regular bowel movements, lowers cholesterol, and stabilizes blood sugar levels.

Each bar contains 160 calories, which will easily fit into your diet plan to aid in fast weight loss.

To promote your health and wellbeing, the bars are also enriched with 20 vitamins and minerals including vitamins A, B, D, and E, iron, phosphorus, magnesium, and copper.

On matters of taste and texture, the bars have a decent score. The crunchy bars will satisfy your sweet tooth while possibly also helping you stave off unhealthy cravings.

The variety pack contains 7 different flavors: Cinnamon, Dark Chocolate S’mores, Fudge Graham, Peppermint Cocoa Crunch, Chocolate Almond, Caramel Cocoa, and Peanut.

One of the biggest downsides for WonderSlim bars is that they may not be suitable for people on restricted meal plans. Although they’re gluten-free and kosher, they are not suitable for those on vegan, gluten-free, GMO-free, lectin-free, or keto diets.

Another major downside is that they contain a slew of artificial ingredients.

WonderSlim also uses alcohol sugars—2-5 grams per bar depending on the flavor. Alcohol sugars can cause bloating and diarrhea in some people.

Here’s an honest Amazon review of WonderSlim bars:

“I ordered one box of the Cinnamon Bars and liked them so much, that I ordered 3 more and will continue to order more when I run out. I am a diabetic and these bars have lots of protein and low sugars and they are delicious. Most foods made with cinnamon can overbear in taste. These bars are the best I have ever had. You should try them, great for breakfast, and a snack bar between meals when you need that little pick me up when your blood sugar goes low mid-afternoon!”

HFB’s Rating of WonderSlim Bars

WonderSlim claims that its products are designed to help dieters lose weight while also being delicious and nutritious.

To find out if these claims hold water, we’ll rate WonderSlim Bars using six qualifiers: nutritional macros, texture and taste, fiber content, sugar content, ingredients, and value.

Texture and Taste

Slim bars

WonderSlim bars have a decent score when it comes to taste and texture. With 9 different flavors to choose from, you’ll probably find something delicious to satisfy your cravings.

Looking at online reviews, there are a fair number of consumers who like the taste. That said, I personally didn’t like them all that much, as the taste made it clear that they had a lot of artificial ingredients.

That said, WonderSlim uses alcohol sugars in their bars which brings down their score. Alcohol sugars are known to cause bloating and diarrhea.

Psst! Got a moment?

If you're reading this, you came here for one my many protein bar reviews, which means you're a fellow bar eater.

If you found my article helpful, I hope you'll take a look at Human Food Bar, which I created after testing over 100 bars.

The bar's unique formulation can help you cut cravings, lose weight, sleep better, have more energy, regulate digestion, and more. It does this by balancing your gut biome.

Human Food Bar comes recommended by New York Times best-selling author Dr. Steven Gundry, MD.

Macros

With 15 grams of protein, WonderSlim meal bars will keep you satiated, boost your metabolism, and support fat burning.

Each bar contains 18 grams of total carbohydrates (16g net carbs) providing 7% of the recommended daily value. The bars are not a good option for dieters on a low-carb diet – especially if you are trying to be in ketosis. In addition, WonderSlim bars are low-fat. Each serving contains only 5 grams of total fat content. That may or may not be a good thing, pending on your dietary preferences. Low-fat diets have not been shown to help with weight loss.

The downside, however, is that some of the bars contain ingredients that can raise cholesterol such as fats and oils, artificial colors, sweeteners, preservatives, and thickeners. While your body needs cholesterol to build healthy cells, high levels of cholesterol can increase your risk of heart attack and stroke.

Fiber Content

WonderSlim meal bars contain only 5 grams of fiber per serving, which can help stave off cravings.

However, 5 grams of fiber won’t keep off the hunger pangs for long. When shopping for a bar, go for one with 7-10g grams of dietary fiber. That’s the optimal amount of fiber you can consume in one meal to keep you full for hours without causing bloating.

Ingredients

All WonderSlim bars contain the following ingredients:

Sugar, water, polydextrose, maltitol syrup, nonfat milk, maltodextrin, calcium phosphate, tapioca starch, salt, calcium carbonate, magnesium oxide, ferric orthophosphate, ascorbic acid, sucralose, alpha-tocopherol acetate, niacinamide, zinc oxide, copper gluconate, calcium pantothenate, pyridoxine hydrochloride, vitamin A palmitate, riboflavin, thiamin mononitrate, folic acid, potassium iodide, biotin, cholecalciferol, cyanocobalamin, protein blend (soy protein isolate, whey protein concentrate, whey protein isolate, casein, calcium caseinate, whey, milk protein isolate).

The bars don’t have any superfood ingredients and they contain loads of artificial flavors and preservatives–too many to address here. They also have tapioca starch, a disguised form of Isomalto Oligosaccharides, a fake fiber that is often sourced from China.

Sugar Content

For dieters on restricted meal plans, the amount of sugar in a snack or meal bar matters. The American Heart Association recommends consuming no more than 24 grams of added sugar per day.

With that in mind, WonderSlim bars are quite high in sugar content. Each serving contains 8-10 grams of sugar, of which 7-9 grams are added sugars. This will surely not help keep you wonderfully slim.

Some of the added sugar in the bars comes from alcohol sugars, which are known to cause digestive issues such as bloating and diarrhea.

Value

With a pack of 7 bars retailing at $14.99, WonderSlim meal bars are quite affordable in their category.

The bars taste good (to some), are low in calories, and contain an adequate amount of protein. However, they don’t contain superfoods, are high in sugar, contain alcohol sugars, are loaded with scary artificial ingredients, and are low in fiber. For these reasons, despite their low price WonderSlim bars score low on overall value.

How Do WonderSlim Bars Compare to the Human Food Bar?

Are you looking for a superior alternative to WonderSlim bars?

Here is where the Human Food Bar comes in!

More than just another meal replacement bar, the Human Food Bar is a microbiome booster inspired by the hunter-gatherer diet. As such the bar contains high-quality ingredients, including superfoods.

Low in carbs and containing no added sugars, the plant-based Human Food Bar is a great option to support your weight loss plan and gut health, with a broad spectrum of prebiotic fiber and resistant starch. Unlike many bars on the market, the Human Food Bar is lectin-free—it’s specially intended to be compatible with the trendy Dr. Gundry Plant Paradox diet.

Lectins are anti-nutrients mostly found in legumes and grains. If you eat them in large quantities over time, lectins can disrupt digestion, interfere with nutrient absorption, and cause intestinal damage. They are also known to trigger autoimmune conditions such as Crohn’s or Celiac disease.

Whether you’re looking for a mini-meal for breakfast or an afternoon treat to stave off cravings till dinner, the Human Food Bar is a nutritious option.

The table below offers a brief comparison of the Human Food Bar and WonderSlim bars.

What Are the Health Benefits of the Human Food Bar?

These ingredients promote microbial diversity. That leads to the following health benefits:

  • Improving your gut and digestive health
  • Keeping you full and curbing cravings
  • Promoting faster weight loss
  • Improving your mood and overall feelings of wellbeing
  • Boosting your immune system
